Frequently asked questions

  • I meet with clients in nature (at local trails or parks), at one of my 2 offices in Boulder, and online. For outside sessions, some people prefer a walk and talk format while others prefer sitting under a tree and talking. We can tailor sessions based on accessibility, needs, and interests.

  • My private pay rates are $150 per 60 minute session (typical for individual therapy) and $225 per 90-minute session (longer sessions are recommended for EMDR). I'm happy to talk about different options together.

  • I accept private pay as well as some insurances (Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, Select Health, Carelon Behavioral Health, & Select Health) through Headway. If you decide to private pay, I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. In this case, I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy services (billed as 90837). Intensives are all private pay at this time.

  • Unfortunately, no. Medicaid has a policy stating that Medicaid clients are required to see a Medicaid provider. It is against their policy for clients to private pay for therapy services.

  • Unfortunately, no. Due to current psychotherapy licensure requirements, I can only work with therapy clients who live within Colorado.

  • I offer 60 minute sessions, 90 minute sessions, and longer, intensive therapy sessions that range from 2 hours long to several days long. I understand that the typical therapy hour doesn't work well for everyone's wiring. I enjoy co-creating unique therapeutic situations that allow for natural healing to unfold.

  • If we decide to work together, the first two sessions typically entail an in-depth intake process where I will get curious about who you are, your history, who/what supports you, what you'd like to work on, etc. I invite a storytelling format during this process. I also offer the option of co-creating a Genogram, which is a more fleshed out version of a family tree. Genograms can be helpful with understanding family patterns, relationships, themes, and experiences. They can help us discover what we would like to leave behind and what we would like to carry forward in our lives.

  • EMDR therapy can helpful for people of a variety of ages and lived experiences who have gone through something challenging. EMDR can be supportive for people who want to work on a single incident or a series of challenging events or memories connected to a theme. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions about EMDR, and I will be glad to share more information!

  • Initially, I offer a free 20-30 minute phone (or video call) consultation to see if we are a good fit. Feel free to submit a form via the contact page on my website, and I'll reach out to you!
